Rulani Mokwena, the manager of Wydad Athletic Club, believes the four African clubs competing in the FIFA Club World Cup would not let the continent down.
Mokwena has backed Mamelodi Sundowns, Al Ahly, Esperance and Wydad to stage a strong performance at the global soccer competition.

Mokwena said Mamelodi Sundowns has the quality to deliver results for them.
“I have been fortunate enough to work with two of the four that have qualified-Mamelodi Sundowns. And I have great regard and warm wishes for them to do exceptionally well,” he said.
The 38-year-old coach is confident Al Ahly has gained enough experience to deliver a good performance.

“Al Ahly have the pedigree, the history, the experience of participating in this competition and for sure I think they will do well,” added the coach.
“And then, of course, with Esperance, they have also got a very strong squad, a team that has done great things for the last three or four years on the continent and in their domestic competitions. I expect them to reach the expectations, “noted Mokwena.

“For us as Wydad-I think we will surprise a lot of people, we have got some very difficult games and we have got a very strong group, ”said Mokwena.
The expanded competition will feature 32 teams and will run from 15th June to 13th July in the USA.
The final is scheduled for July 13, 2025, in New York, with the top two teams from each group moving on to the knockout stages.
Al Ahly, Inter Miami CF, FC Porto, and SE Palmeiras are all in Group A. Group D includes Chelsea, Club Leon, CR Flamengo, and Esperance.
Mamelodi Sundowns, the South African champions, Ulsan HD, Fluminense, and Germain powerhouse Borussia Dortmund are all in Group F. Juventus, Al Ain, Manchester City, and Wydad AC are in Group C.
