Zambian midfielder Emmanuel Banda scored his first goal in the UEFA Europa Conference League on Thursday night when his Swedish side Djurgadens IF defeated Norway’s Molde football club 3-2 in their Group F second match.
It was Banda’s first start in the competition, putting up an impressive 70 minutes shift for the hosts who have secured 4 points to be level with Belgium side Gent who are topping the group on goal difference.
He was directly involved in Djurgarden’s first goal in the 50th minute after setting up Guinea’s Amadou Doumbouya who slotted in the opener before he found the back of net 8 minutes later.
Banda’s goal meant that he became the second Zambian to score in the Conference League after Patson Daka who achieved the feat last season with Leicester City when he came off from the bench to score and help Leicester City defeat PSV 2-1 and advance to the semi finals in the first ever edition of the competition.
Banda has now been directly involved in 11 goals this season having scored a total of 6 goals and provided 5 assists across all competitions for the Swedish club.
