Rio Ferdinand says the decision by captain Bruno Fernandes to turn down a mega move to Saudi side Al-Hilal and stay at old Trafford is a massive boost for Manchester club.
Fernandes received a staggering offer from Al-Hilal who proposed to nearly triple his current United salary. He earns around £250,000 per week at United had an approximately £700,000-£750,000 per week offer dangled in his face.
However, United were not willing to let the player go, despite the over £100 million proposed transfer fee, a move the prompted the player to decide to stick with the struggling English giants.
Fernandes has revealed that; “There was an opportunity. The president called me and asked if I wanted to go there. They were waiting for me.
“I spoke to coach Amorim. He asked me not to go. Manchester United didn’t want to sell me. They don’t need the money.”
Reacting to the news, Ferdinand has said the decision was massive.
“He [Bruno] is staying you know,” Ferdinand, a five-time Premier League winner with united said on his YouTube Channel,” Bruno is staying, our most potent scorer, our biggest goal threat, our biggest chance maker and our captain, I couldn’t have woken up this morning happier…what a man,”
