The Zambian national team is prepared to regain their COSAFA supremacy this time, according to winger Charles Zulu.
Ibrahim Madi’s goal in the first half helped Comoros defeat Zambia in today’s Group D opening, securing the top spot in the group.
After being eliminated at group stage last year, the Chipolopolo boys aim to put on a strong show this time.
Zulu, who had a good season with Nkana, is anticipated to repeat his club’s performance at the regional competition.
Speaking to FAZ media, Zulu said the morale is high and everyone is looking forward to the match.
“The feeling in camp is quite okay everyone is happy for the game, we are ready. The target is to win COSAFA Cup, we have to win it at all costs. We are not under pressure, but everyone in camp wants to win it, there are some players who never won it before, so they all want to win it,” said Zulu.
The Nkana winger added that the team is using the COSAFA tournament to prepare for the upcoming CHAN competition.
“Tough games all I can say is both teams are good teams, I think for us it’s a preparation for CHAN tournament and even Africa Cup, so preparation wise we are okay, “added Zulu.
The former Zanaco player called on the fans to rally behind the team. “They have to give us support, they have to believe in us, and we will do the rest,” concluded Zulu.
The Chipolopolo boys’ last group game will be against Botswana. Chipolopolo will win their group and advance to the tournament’s semifinals if they defeat both teams.
