Wesley Fofana became Chelsea football clubs’ seventh signing in the summer transfer window after completing his move to the west London side in a deal worth £70m plus £5m in add-ons from Leicester city.
Fofana is the third defender signed by Chelsea in this transfer window which is coming to an end at midnight today with clubs across Europe making last minute attempts to sign players.
Chelsea who are currently struggling to maintain clean sheets in the premier league, having conceded eight goals in their last five premier league matches , recently signed Senegal’s Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli and Marc Cucurella from Brighton and Hove Albion and now Fofana in a bid to bolster their defense.
The Thomas Tuchel coached side also added England forward Raheem Sterling from Manchester City who has already scored three goals in his first five matches for the blues.
Fofana joined Leicester city in 2020 from French club Saint Etienne and spent two seasons in Leicester city. He leaves the club as an FA Cup winner, having won it with City for the first time in 2021.
He also made 52 appearances for the Club, out of which 37 were in the Premier League and 11 across two European campaigns and Tuchel will count on him to help strengthen the Chelsea defense as the 2022-23 season continues.
