Aston Villa beat Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City 1-0 to move to third place in the Premier League standings with 30 points.

Leon Bailey scored through a deflected shot in the 74th minute to give the home side the victory.

Villa is enjoying a brilliant season under Unai Emery, as they recorded their 14th consecutive home win this season.

Their win meant the defending champions were now six points below the leaders, Arsenal, who lead with 36 points.

Speaking after the match, City manager Pep Guardiola admitted that his team struggled but promised to bring them back to winning ways.

“The better team won, we struggled, especially in the first half and the second half was completely different. In the final third, the quality of the pass and the movement didn’t match the game.”

“It is my duty, my job, to come back from the situation because, for many years, we have always found ways to win games, sometimes playing well, sometimes not. Now that we are struggling, we have to change the dynamic as soon as possible against Luton and Crystal Place.”

City will face Luton Town FC in the next Premier League on Sunday away.
