Following a timid Premier League campaign that saw the Foxes drop to the Championship, Patson Daka has finally opened up.

The ship did not sail swimmingly in the just-ended season for the Zambian striker who often flourishes on national duty.

The former Kafue Celtics man only found the back of the net on four occasions in 13 starts in the Premier League for Leicester City.

In his last two seasons at the club, Daka scored a total of nine goals in the Premier League. He also netted 15 goals across all competitions in 74 appearances including four goals in one Europa League game.

Meanwhile, in his latest tweet, Daka revealed he has failed to move on from the pain of getting relegated from his club.

He wrote: “It’s been weeks of reflection but the feeling is still the same.”

“I’d like to thank the LCFC community whose unwavering support was the brightest spot during what was a challenging season.

“Leicester will rise again, until then, let’s keep our fighting spirit alive.”

Vardy’s boots big for Daka?

Daka initially joined the Foxes to replace the aging Jamie Vardy who’s at the end of his career. Vardy’s exploits in front of goal in the 2016 campaign saw the Foxes crowned Premier League champions.

Left with big boots to fill, the stage has often proved to be too big for Daka who impressed in the Austrian league.

Playing for the national team usually provides him with a chance to redeem himself.

Levy Mwanawasa will be the battlefield on the 17th as Zambia host Ivory Coast.

It’s evident that Daka is considered an essential weapon in Avram Grant’s artillery against the Elephants as the Chipolopolo look to make a return to the Africa Cup for the first time since 2015.
