Manchester City continue piling pressure on Premier League log leaders, Arsenal following a 1-0 away win at Leeds United on Saturday evening.
Antoine Semenyo’s goal in first-half added time was enough to give City a crucial 1-0 win over Leeds United.
Cityzens are now two points behind the Gunners, who have 61 points at the summit ahead of their game against Chelsea on Sunday evening.
Speaking after the match, Pep Guardiola stated that it was a huge win, adding that his team is taking it one game at a time.
“This is a huge victory to still be there,” he said.
“All of the teams are like [Leeds], but Bernardo and Rodri did really well. Once again the guys make an extraordinary effort because, otherwise, it is not possible”
“One game at a time. Every game is really, really tough.”
Guardiola also revealed that the team’s main objective will be to secure UEFA Champions League football for next season.
“The Premier League is better than ever. Qualifying for the Champions League is the main target for the club because for the last 10 years we have been there.
Guardiola also noted that the season has become more demanding due to a congested fixture lineup with their next match coming in midweek.
“You want me to tell me what is going to happen against Nottingham Forest? I don’t know. Thank you so much for letting us play in the FA Cup at 8 pm [against Newcastle next Saturday] and then travel to Real Madrid.”
Manchester City is unbeaten in nine matches in all competitions and will host a matchday encounter against relegation-embattled Nottingham Forest on Wednesday at Etihad Stadium.
