Patson Daka was the only Leicester City player to score a goal during the March international break.
Daka scored twice to give Chipolopolo a 0-2 win over Lesotho on Sunday, putting them one leg into the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals, which will be held next year.
He put Zambia in the lead 14 minutes into the game from a Rangers FC’s Fashion Sakala assist to mark his 10th international goal since making his senior debut for the Chipolopolo.
The Leicester City man was set up again by Sakala to tap in Chipolopolo’s second goal from close range in the 69th minute, extending his all-time international goal tally to 11.
It was also Daka’s third goal in the qualifiers in four games, with his first coming in a 3-1 loss to Ivory Coast in June last year.
With his brace on Sunday, Chipolopolo now sits second in Group H with 9 points. They are one point away from returning to the Africa Cup for the first time since 2015.
Can Daka replicate his Chipolopolo scoring form in the Premier League?
Daka was the only Leicester City player during the international break to score for his country.
His form with Zambia could earn him a start in the Premier League against Crystal Palace this Saturday.
Before the international break, Daka made his first Premier League start in 2023 against Chelsea. He scored in that match, which Leicester City lost 1-3 at the King Power Stadium.
He again started in the following match against Brentford which ended in a 1-1 draw.
Leicester City are 17th in the Premier League standings with 25 points, one point above the relegation zone.
They have lost their last six games in all competitions and will be desperate for a win on Saturday.
