The Zambian international has yet to appear for Leicester City in the Championship. He has been absent from the match-day squad since the season began.

Daka was an unused substitute in the Foxes’ EFL Cup encounter against Coventry City before being dropped from the squad in their first three league games.

When he was first dropped, along with Timothy Castagne, Harry Souttar, Victor Kristiansen, and Boubakary Soumar, all of whom had links to moves away from the club, manager Enzo Maresca stated that it was a “technical decision.”

“The players that were not in the squad today, it was because of a technical decision for some of them, and for some of them, I thought it was better for them to stay home,” Maresca was quoted as saying by Leicestershirelive.

The 24-year-old has been linked to four clubs in this window. AS Roma, AS Monaco, Everton, and recently, AFC Bournemouth have all been said to be interested in his services. However, there has been nothing concrete yet.

With only five days until the transfer window closes, Leicester City is reportedly looking to recoup the £23 million they paid RB Salzburg for the striker. This has made negotiations with interested clubs difficult, according to sources.

How did Daka fare at Leicester City, and what’s next?

The 2017 CAF African Young Player of the Year Award winner, who has three years left on his contract with Leicester City, joined from Red Bull Salzburg, where he scored 68 goals in 125 games.

Daka made his competitive debut in 2021, coming off the bench against Manchester City to lift the Community Shield.

His first Premier League goal came on October 16 in a 4-2 win over Manchester United at King Power Stadium.

Daka also became the first Foxes player since 1958 to score four goals in a single fixture. He netted all four goals in a 4-3 comeback victory over Spartak Moscow in the UEFA Europa League.

Last season, he scored four goals in the Premier League in 13 starts. In total, he has 15 goals in 74 appearances across all competitions for the Foxes.

It remains to be seen where Daka will play this season. He is clearly no longer in the club’s plans, and a move is expected before the transfer window closes.
