Leicester City announced last month the appointment of Enzo Maresca as manager on a contract until 2026.
This 43-year-old who was previously a Manchester City first-team coach has been tasked to lead Leicester City back to the Premier League.
The Italian got down to business as the club’s new manager this week and met some of his players as they begin their preparation for the season.
Maresca admitted that the club is open to selling players who are desperate to leave King Power.
“It is difficult when the market is open, anything can happen. At the moment, seven players had their contracts expired, James Maddison left, and some more players can leave,” he said.
“But at the same time, players can leave, so we can bring in more players. The market is open anything can happen. We can bring in players and we can sell them too.”
“Vardy is a main player” -Says Leicester City’s new manager
Maresca also insisted that veteran English striker Jamie Vardy remains the main player at the club.
“I have spoken with him [Vardy] a few times already, and he was quite relaxed. There were no words about leaving. He is a main player, and he will probably be an example for all of his teammates. We are very happy to have him here. It is a pleasure for me to have him,” he stated.
The Italian emphasized that his side will need to have the right mindset as they aim to adapt to the championship.
“The most important thing is to adapt to the competition and have the right mindset.”

With the green light given to players who want to leave, it will not be surprising if the Nigerian duo of Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi leave Leicester City this summer.
Zambian international Patson Daka has also been linked with a move to AS Roma and Galatasaray.
