Malawian striker Gabadinho Mhango continued his fine scoring form for South African club Moroka Swallows, netting in their 2-1 victory over Chippa United on Wednesday night.
Chippa, the home team, scored first with Kayden Francis just 17 minutes into the first half. The first half ended with Swallows trailing.
The visitors continued to press in the second half, and Mhango equalized with a beautiful free kick from nearly 20 yards out.
Swallows scored the winning goal through Lwanda Mbanjwa after the home team failed to defend the set piece.
Mhango was named man of the match for his outstanding performance. His goal was also his sixth league in 20 games this season.
The former Orlando Pirates striker told BolaNews in an interview that he is pleased with his current form and believes it will benefit him in future games, as well as the Flames’ World Cup assignments.
“I am happy that the confidence is finally back and I am now scoring almost every game, which is good for me and my fans,” Mhango said. “The team is trying to be in a good position to avoid relegation…… And I believe we will not be relegated.
He continued: “I am proud that I am scoring and this has boosted my confidence. I will keep trying and keep going.”
Mhango and his Swallows side now sit 12th in the DSTV Premiership with 29 points from 24 games.
