"The club opted to tweet as they believed that they could get a wide reach and attract many players from different areas,"- team coach Morgan Mammila said.

Last week, South African Premier Soccer League (PSL) side Chippa United shocked the entire football community when the team decided to advertise a position of a left back.

However, because they believed the club had ignored the scouting system, the majority of players did not appreciate the placement of the advertisement.

But the club has justified the decision of the management and explained why they had to advertise the position of the left back.

Chippa United coach Morgan Mammila said that the club opted to tweet as they believed that they could get a wide reach and attract many players from different areas.

“I was only looking at one position, which is the left-back. The response was phenomenal; we were able to secure a top-notch left back,” he is quoted by farpost.co.za.

500 left backs jostle for one position.

He further revealed that the tweet managed to attract over 500 quality left-backs, and it could not have been possible if they used a scout.

“Let’s be honest, a scout can’t be all over Africa, can’t be all over the world, but one tweet can be all over Africa. That one tweet helped us to attract over 500 quality left-backs, unlike if it was a scout. He can only be able to go to Tanzania, Zambia and others,” he explained.

The advertisement shared via a tweet managed to attract over 500 quality left-backs.

The chill boys have so far made four signings during this transfer window, including Zambian international and former Orlando Pirates player Augustin Mulenga.
