Zambian international Libamba Moyela is aiming for Golden Boot glory in the upcoming South African Premier Soccer League (PSL) season, having scored on his debut for the Golden Arrows earlier this year. This followed his departure from Zambian Super League club Forest Rangers.

In an exclusive interview with bolanews.co from his base in South Africa, the COSAFA Championship-winning striker revealed his target for the 2024-25 season.

“My target is to score 15 goals. If I don’t become the top scorer in the PSL, then I will be the top scorer for my team. But I just have to work hard, as God gives to those who work hard.”

Moyela Libamba joined Golden Arrows in January this year.

After scoring on his debut, Moyela had a difficult start in South Africa due to an injury. Some Zambian fans called him a failure for not replicating his form from the Zambian Super League, but he is determined to prove them wrong.

“I just need to work hard, remain focused, and redeem myself to replicate the form I had at Forest Rangers,” Moyela stated.

“Sometimes it’s very difficult when you go somewhere new. You need to work hard and get used to the league. It was my first time playing at Golden Arrows and in South Africa, but now I have played and seen how they play. I am prepared.”

“I need to give defenders problems”- Moyela

The 30-year-old expressed satisfaction after scoring in his first game against TS Galaxy and promised to cause problems for defenders next season.

“I was happy to score in the first game, but I am working hard to score more goals. I need to give defenders problems. For the team, we need to win the league. That’s our target, to come out in the top eight and win some cups.

Moyela, a member of Zambia’s 2023 COSAFA-winning team, has not been a regular call-up to the national team but is determined to reclaim his place.

“I need to return to the national team. This coming season, I just need to go back and help my country. I will work hard to earn a place in the national team squad. That’s one of my targets, and I have been praying to God about it.”
