Zambia’s Under-20 women’s national team delivered a commanding performance to crush Angola 8-0 in a Group stage match at the COSAFA U20 Women’s Region 5 Youth Games.
The scoring spree began early, with Blessings Zulu opening the floodgates in the 8th minute. Saliya Mwanza quickly followed with a brace, netting goals in the 16th and 22nd minutes, putting Zambia firmly in control.
Namute Bwalya continued the onslaught, scoring twice herself in the 33rd and 46th minutes. Victoria Mbali matched her feat with goals in the 35th and 68th minutes, showcasing the team’s attacking depth. Eunice Bwalya also contributed to the emphatic victory with a goal in the 38th minute.
The comprehensive win sends Zambia to the knockout stage, where they will face either Namibia, who currently sit on 4 points, or Malawi, who have 1 point.
Namibia needs just a draw to advance, while Malawi must win by at least 2-0 to keep their hopes alive.
