Namute Chileshe, a striker for Zambia’s U20 women’s national team, says the team would do their hardest to score more goals in their second Group B encounter against Angola on Monday at the 2025 COSAFA U20 Women’s Championship in Namibia.

This follows Zambia’s impressive 3-0 victory over South Africa in their opening match of the tournament on Saturday.

The result that sent a strong signal of intent from the Copper Princesses.

“We should focus on Angola. We should work hard so that we score more goals and not allow any goal,” said Chileshe.

She was named Player of the Match after scoring against South Africa.

Angola Stands In The Way Of Zambia.

“Coming out as Player of the Match, I have felt nice because I was fighting to at least become the Player of the Match so that supporters feel nice. We are working and not playing around,” Chileshe said.

She admitted that although Zambia won comfortably, the match against South Africa was a tough one.

“The game wasn’t easy. It was tough, but we did all we could manage because the first game is the key — when you win, you know how to progress forward,” she added.

Zambia’s next assignment is against Angola, who also won their opening match after beating Eswatini 4-2.

The two sides will clash on Monday at 15:00 hours in a top-of-the-table encounter that could determine early group leadership.

Zambia top Group B on goal difference and aim to maintain their unbeaten start and edge closer to the knockout stages of the competition.
