Zambian defender David Hamansenya has joined Czech Premier League side Slovan Liberec on a season-long loan from Spanish club CD Leganés.
The deal, which was finalised on Tuesday, includes an option for Slovan Liberec to make the transfer permanent at the end of the loan spell.
Slovan Liberec are currently second in the Czech Premier League standings after seven rounds of matches.
Hamansenya signed his contract with the Czech club alongside his agent, Nir Karin, after spending the last two seasons at Leganés.
This is his second loan spell in the Czech Republic. Last year, he was loaned to Czech second-division club SK Artis Brno until June 2026.
The 19-year-old left-back joined Leganés in August last year, signing a four-year contract from Shamuel Academy after impressing at the 2025 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Hamasenya featured in all of Zambia’s matches at that tournament and later earned a senior national team call-up following his standout performances, and went on to play at the 2025 senior AFCON in Morocco.
He will now begin a new chapter in the Czech Republic as he looks to secure regular playing time.
According to Karin, increased game time was a key factor behind the move, with Slovan Liberec viewed as the right environment for Hamansenya to achieve that.
Karin also noted that the Czech league has traditionally been a good destination for Zambian players, another factor in the decision.
Hamansenya is currently in Spain and is expected to join his new teammates in the Czech Republic after the international break.
