Former Chipolopolo striker Given Singuluma says Avram Grant has restored confidence and belief in the Zambia men’s senior national team.
After missing out on three editions of the AFCON, Zambia will be competing for the first time at the showpiece since 2015.
But with a new looking team headlined by Leicester City forward Patson Daka, Serie A US Lecce winger Lameck Banda and Redstar Belgrade’s Kingsley Kangwa, Given Singuluma tells Bola News that the team is headed for greatness.
“If you look at the number of Zambians playing Europe, it gives you motivation even going into the AFCON, players like Daka and Fashion Sakala have completed changed the game for the Chipolopolo,” he said.
Singuluma played at the 2010 and 2015 Africa Cup of Nations says Avram Grant deserves all the credit for restoring the much-needed confidence in the team.
“Avram Grant has restored confidence and belief in the players, and we are progressing well, and this has culminated in AFCON qualification after 8 years,” he said.
“We need to prepare well and plan accordingly. At the AFCON we will face stronger teams. Otherwise let’s continue supporting the national team,” he said.
Singuluma who also had a stint at Zanaco Football Club back in his playing days showered the Football Association of Zambia for the team’s exploits during the AFCON Qualifiers, but also challenged them to intensify preparation.

“I wish to recommend FAZ for spearheading qualification. We hope the groundwork laid can make us return to being a major force in Africa and beyond,” he added.
