Lameck Banda and Gampani Lungu’s performances over the weekend stole the show for Zambians playing abroad, while Patson Daka continues to miss out on Leicester City’s matchday squads, with rumors aplenty of a potential transfer.
Here is a round-up of the performances of the Zambian players plying their trade outside the country.
FASHION SAKALA
Chipolopolo boys and former Rangers Football Club striker, Fashion Sakala featured in his side’s nil-nil draw against Al Hazem in the Saudi Arabia Professional League.
Despite not finding his usual scoring or assisting abilities, Sakala’s side has continued to dwell among the best teams in the League.
PATSON DAKA
Patson Daka of Leicester City has continued to miss out on action for the Foxes amidst rumors of a potential transfer. The former Red Bull Salzburg forward has, however, reportedly attracted interest from AS Monaco and English Premier League sides Bournemouth and Everton.
KINGS KANGWA
Kings Kangwa played 90 minutes for Red Star Belgrade, which lost 3-2 on the road to Vozdovack FC in the Serbian SuperLiga. The defeat was the team’s first in 36 league games.
EDWARD CHILUFYA
Edward Chilufya, who had recently been named in coach Avram Grant’s Chipolopolo provisional squad for the match against Comorso of the AFCON qualifiers, did not play for Midtjylland FC in their latest defeat, a 3-nil loss to Nordsjaelland in the Danish League.
LUBAMBO MUSONDA
Despite his team, Silkeborg FC, defeating Copenhagen in the Danish Championship, Chipolopolo captain Lubambo Musonda was another unutilized substitute.
EMMANUEL BANDA
Emmanuel Banda has also continued to miss action due to injury. His side was, however, another victim of a 2-1 loss to Dinamo Zagreb in the Croatian League.
MIGUEL CHAIWA
Miguel Chaiwa played in the UEFA Champions League playoffs for BSC Young Boys. His side drew 0-0 with Maccabi Haifa in the first leg on Wednesday night. The 19-year-old midfielder played the final 20 minutes of the game, making three recoveries for his team.
LAMECK BANDA
Lameck Banda, the US Lecce winger, was in the form of his life last night as he made two assists to inspire his side to come back from a two-goal deficit to draw 2-2 against Fiorentina in Serie A.
GAMPANI LUNGU
Ghampani Lungu of South Africa’s DSTV Premiership, Supersport United, cruised past Stellenbosch Football Club to a 2-1 win. Ghampani scored from the penalty spot in the 54th minute.
