The two sides representing Zambia in the Confederation Cup and the CAF Champions League have been exhorted by Football Association of Zambia President Andrew Kamanga to continue their strong play as they represent the nation in the following round.
At the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium on Saturday, Zambia’s Super League defending Champions Power Dynamos defeated African stars 1-0 to advance to the next round of the CAF Champions League.
The Mazabuka-based team drew 1-1 in the first leg before defeating Cano Sport of Equatorial Guinea 3-0 on Sunday at Lusaka’s National Heroes Stadium to win 4-1 overall and advance to the tournament’s next round.
Zambian Super League, defending champions Power Dynamos started their season with a 2-1 loss to African Stars before defeating them 1-0 at home to advance to the following round of the competition with a 2-2 overall score.
“While we are excited about their progress to the next round, we expect that out continental envoys will be fighting to sustain this momentum,” said Kamanga.
FAZ ready to offer technical support to CAF envoys.
The FAZ president has further urged the two teams to keep raising the Zambian flag and guaranteed them of the Association’s support in the Weekly column titled President’s Corner.
“On our part we have kept our doors open to help them succeed. Our offer for any of our national team staff to help them remains open, but it must be at their request. As FAZ, we will support our continental envoys in every possible way as they represent our nation,” the FAZ boss said.
