Zambia U23 forward Peter Chikola has opened up about his move to Spanish fourth-tier side Linares Deportivo, sealing a two-year deal following his spell with Cádiz CF.
Speaking exclusively to BolaNews, the former Kafue Celtic striker explained that playing in the same division last season and the lack of first-team opportunities at Cádiz played a key role in his decision.
“The reason I made this move is because Cádiz B got relegated from playing in this league that I will be playing in,” Chikola said. “We were playing in the same league with my new team last season, and the fact that Cádiz first team didn’t give me a chance, I decided to just maintain the same level like last season.”
The 22-year-old confirmed that Cádiz has inserted a buy-back clause in the deal, keeping the door open for a potential return if he impresses.
“I will still be under the watch of Cádiz,” he added. “It’s a good team here at Linares. I believe I will make a big move from this club so that I can play in the first league.”
Chikola rose through the ranks at Kafue Celtic before earning his move to Spain.
