Zambian midfielder Kings Kangwa is set to join Greek giants Panathinaikos on a four-year contract from Israeli champions Hapoel Be’er Sheva in a €4 million transfer.
BolaNews can exclusively confirm that Kangwa has already agreed personal terms with the Greek side and will play his final game for Be’er Sheva on Wednesday before travelling to Greece to complete the move and sign his new contract.
Panathinaikos finished fourth in the Greek Super League last season. The Greek top flight is ranked 12th in Europe, significantly ahead of Israel, which is ranked 25th, reports @gerald-bupe-mambo.
The club is also currently competing in the UEFA Europa Conference League.
Historically, Panathinaikos are the second most successful club in Greece, with 20 league titles, behind Olympiacos, who have won 48. They also reached the 1971 European Cup (now UEFA Champions League) final, where they lost to Ajax.
Kangwa will be a valuable addition to the squad after playing a key role in helping Hapoel Be’er Sheva win the Israeli league title, contributing 12 goals and 11 assists in all competitions and earning the Israel Best Player Award.
The Chipolopolo midfielder scored 29 goals and provided 19 assists in 89 appearances for Be’er Sheva across two seasons in Israel.
