Chipolopolo striker Patson Daka has finally broken his silence on transfer speculation as he approaches the final months of his contract at Leicester City.
Daka joined Leicester City in the summer of 2021 from Austrian giants Red Bull Salzburg, with the transfer agreed and announced on 30 June 2021. The five-year deal is scheduled to expire on 30 June 2026.
BolaNews understands there are currently no contract extension talks. When asked about his future at the club, Daka said he remains focused on playing for Leicester but will assess his options at a later stage.
“To be honest, a lot of people know things about myself which I don’t even know. For me I always just focuse on where I am which is Leicester,” he told BolaNews in Rabat. “I am playing and yeah, my contract will finish ofcourse but anything is possible, in football you will never know, so for me right now my focus is to play football.”
“I will be out of contract for sure so I have to assess every posibility that comes,” Daka concluded.
The 27-year-old striker has been at the centre of transfer speculation over the last two seasons, with AFC Bournemouth reportedly coming close to signing him in 2024.
Since moving to Leicester City, Daka has made 143 appearances, scoring 24 goals and providing 16 assists across all competitions.
Daka is also Leicester City’s record scorer in European competitions, achieving the feat during the club’s 2021–22 UEFA Europa League campaign. He scored four goals against Spartak Moscow in a thrilling 4–3 win on 20 October 2021, and added one more against Legia Warsaw in a 3–1 victory on 25 November 2021 — the fifth goal that set the club record.
