Zambian winger Edward Chilufya has joined Israeli side Hapoel Jerusalem FC on loan from Danish club FC Midtjylland for the remainder of the season.
The 26-year-old winger moves to Israel in search of regular playing time after struggling to secure a consistent place in Midtjylland’s starting line-up.
Chilufya joined FC Midtjylland in 2022 and has also spent time on loan at Swedish club BK Häcken. During his time with the Danish side, he has made 116 appearances, scoring 13 goals and providing 12 assists.
He will now continue his career with Hapoel Jerusalem, who currently sit 13th in Israel’s top-flight league, Ligat Ha’Al.
Midtjylland sporting director Kristian Bach Bak believes the loan move will provide Chilufya with an opportunity to get more minutes on the pitch.
“Chilufya is incredibly professional and has brought a lot of positives to the club. Despite the tough competition for the attacking positions and the limited playing time, he has delivered when he has been given the chance,” Bak said.
“We believe that a loan move is a good opportunity for him in the hunt for more playing minutes. We look forward to following him.”
Chilufya will spend the rest of the season with Hapoel Jerusalem before returning to Midtjylland.
