Benson Sakala, Zambia’s international midfielder, will compete in the Uefa Conference League after his team, FK Mlada Boleslav, secured qualification for the Group stage on Thursday night.
Mlada Boleslav defeated Paks 3-0 in the playoffs to advance to the group phase for the time, where they will face Real Betis and five other teams.
The 27-year-old, who started the match, and played 89 minutes contributed massively to the team’s victory.
Sakala has played in three matches this season and scored once.
The former Power Dynamos captain joined the team last season and will look to impress in both the Conference League and the Czech Republican League.
He was also named yesterday to Avram Grant’s 27-man provisional squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Zambia will begin their qualification campaign against defending African champions Ivory Coast on September 6 in Bouke. Three days later, the team will face Sierra Leone at home at the Levy Mwanawansa Stadium.
