Driven by their desire to play for Chipolopolo one day, 90 players have gathered at Kitwe’s Garden Park Stadium for the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) organized national team selection trials.
In a move to broaden the national team selection pool, FAZ has launched nationwide selection trials.
Despite mixed reactions, the trials have commenced across various provinces, with Copperbelt Province serving as the central hub for teams from the northern regions.
Bolanews’ on-site check at Garden Park revealed teams from Copperbelt, North-Western, Northern, Muchinga, and Luapula Provinces, each comprising 18 players, bringing the total number of Chipolopolo hopefuls to 90. By tomorrow, the last day of the trials, this number will have been reduced to 30.
Emmanuel Chimpinde and Noble Bwalya, two former Power Dynamos midfielders, as well as former Zanaco trainer David Chilufya are among the coaches assessing the youngsters.
FAZ Vice President Justin Mumba and Copperbelt Provincial Association Chairman Patrick Ndhlovu, who is also a member of the FAZ Executive Committee were in attendance.
