Lameck Banda was on target for US Lecce at the weekend, ending a two-year goal drought for club and country. The forward doubled his side’s lead in a 2-1 win over Torino, finding the back of the net for the first time since scoring against Empoli in December 2023.

Ghosting in at the far post, Banda tucked away Medon Berisha’s low cross in the 22nd minute, making no mistake from point-blank range.

Kingstone Mutandwa‘s last-minute heroics handed SV Ried a 1-0 victory against WAC in the Austrian Bundesliga. He netted a 93rd-minute winner after acrobatically swinging his right boot towards a floating ball in the opposition box.

It’s the third time this season the Austrian Bundesliga joint-topscorer has scored a winning goal for his side at the death.

Liteta holds his own against Juventus; Kings assist

Joseph Liteta was named in Cagliari Calcio’s starting lineup against Juventus, playing 53 minutes. The youngster was decent in the middle of the park, completing 22 of his 26 passes, recording 100% long-ball accuracy, and making two interceptions.

Elsewhere, Kings Kangwa, returning from injury, set up a crucial goal for 10-man Hapoel Be’er Sheva, helping them edge Hapoel Haifa 4-3. The substitute laid off the ball to Dan Biton, who completed his hat-trick with an emphatic finish.

Chaiwa starts against Celtic; Daka leads the line for Leicester City

Miguel Chaiwa, having recuperated from illness, clocked 79 minutes for Hibernian, who lost 2-1 to Scottish giants Celtic in the Premiership. In England, Patson Daka was chucked off at halftime in Leicester City’s 3-2 defeat against Sheffield United.

On the African continent, Simba SC were downed 2-1 by Stade Malien in the CAF Champions League, with Joshua Mutale playing the first half. Meanwhile, Clatous Chama started Singida Black Stars’ 1-1 draw with Stellenbosch in the CAF Confederations Cup as Andrew Phiri made a cameo late on.

Lubambo Musonda bags cleansheet in Germany, Benson Sakala starts in midfield

Benson Sakala played the first 79 minutes of Bohemians Praha’s 1-0 loss to FK Teplice in the Chance Liga. Meanwhile, in Israel, Songa Chipyoka made Hapoel Petah Tikva’s starting XI in a goalless draw with Maccabi Haifa.

Lubambo Musonda kept his third cleansheet of the season for 1. FC Magdeburg, who posted a 3-0 win vs 1. FC Nürnberg. Elsewhere, Emmanuel Banda was in action for Maccabi Bney Reine in the Liga Leumit, playing 77 minutes.

Rodrick Kabwe tastes defeat on his birthday, forgotten Chipolopolo star Ghampani features in South Africa.

Jack Lahne

Jack Lahne featured for 75 minutes in Austria Lustenau’s 1-0 loss to Amstetten in the Austrian second tier. In the Middle East, Al Ramadi could not conjure the perfect birthday for Rodrick Kabwe, falling 1-0 to Gazal Shamal SC. The 33-year-old left back started the match.

Kennedy Musonda was also on the losing side, starting for Hapoel Ramat Gan against Ironi Modiin. In Georgia, Frank Chileshe dictated the middle of the park for Locomotive Tbilisi while Bonephanseo Phiri was unavailable.

In Africa, Ghampani Lungu lasted 88 minutes in Siwelele FC’s 0-0 stalemate with Chippa United. Chipolopolo defender-cum-midfielder Obino Chisala started for Sudanese giants Al Merrikh in the Rwandan topflight.
