CAF has officially confirmed Zambia’s group stage fixtures for the 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN), scheduled to take place from 2 to 30 August in Kenya.
The Chipolopolo Boys will be based in Nairobi for their Group A matches, where they will face strong competition from continental giants, which include Morocco and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
Zambia will kick off their campaign on 7 August against the DRC, before taking on Angola on 10 August. Their third match will see them square off with Morocco on 14 August, before wrapping up the group stage with a clash against hosts Kenya on 17 August.
The CHAN tournament features players who play in their respective domestic leagues and serves as a platform for showcasing local talent on the continental stage.
Zambia will be aiming to improve on their previous CHAN campaigns and make a deep run in the 2025 edition.

The team has faced heavy criticism following their poor performance at the 2025 COSAFA Championship, where they were eliminated in the group stage. The tournament had been intended as preparation for the upcoming CHAN.
NA S ON a Facebook user reacted, “They will be eliminated in group stage if they don’t assemble a team to go and compete and not participating.”
“Not that team which played at COSAFA,” Robinson Mutwale also reacted, suggesting that the team that participated in the COSAFA championship is not good enough for CHAN.
Josphat Mafuta Mk, another Facebook user also wrote, “We would be lucky to come out with a point from this group…..The team must enter camp early to have a good chance of doing well.”
“This team is going nowhere. I’m wondering how the selection of these players was done,” Isaac Phiri stated in a comment on Facebook.
Mpengula Tom thinks Zambia is the weakest in the group, saying, “It’s not been negative, but we’re the weakest in this group.”
“Zambia isn’t winning any match here,” Lloyd Ndaba Nyoni, another fan wrote on Facebook in reaction to the fixtures.
