FC MUZA put up an impressive performance at the Heroes National Stadium in Lusaka on Sunday as they thumped Cano Sport 3-0 to advance to the next round of the CAF Confederation Cup.
MUZA, who are debutants in the competition, drew 1-1 in their first leg in Equatorial Guinea. They went into today’s match needing only a scoreless draw to advance.
Kondwani Mhango opened the scoring for the Zambian side with a coolly dispatched effort in the 17th minute, sending the home fans into pure delirium.
In the second half, the Mazabuka-based club continued probing for their second. It would eventually come after an opposing player was judged to have handled the ball in the box.
Andrew Phiri made no mistake with a brilliantly taken penalty to increase MUZA’s advantage in the 49th minute.
The Dynamites were not done yet, grabbing the third of the game through Bono Angwenga in the 67th minute. Not only were they clinical in front of goal, but they were defensively compact.
It was a masterclass from Mathew Ndhlovu’s men, who delivered a perfect performance with a 4-1 aggregate scoreline. They will now face Diables Noir of Congo Brazzaville.
