Zambian Super League side FC Muza will take on Club Sportif Multidisciplinaire Diables Noirs of Congo Brazzaville in the second round of the CAF Confederations Cup first leg at the National Heroes Stadium on Sunday.
The Elegant Dynamites will head into this match on the back of a tightly contested 1-1 draw against Red Arrows in a rescheduled week two fixture played at Nkoloma Stadium last Saturday.
The Mazabuka-based side beat Cano Sports Academy of Equatorial Guinea 4-1 on aggregate to qualify for the second round of the interclub competition.
MUZA are looking to reach the group stage at their first attempt, a feat that a Zambian club last achieved in 2021 when Napsa Stars defeated Kenya’s Gor Mahia FC to advance.
They could become the latest Zambian club to write that history if they win the two-legged matchups against the Congolese.
“As FC Muza, we are on a journey to making history” – Mwanza
Team captain Kelvin Mwanza is optimistic about winning the match this weekend. He believes they have to score more goals and keep a clean sheet.
“We know what this game means to us and for the nation. Playing at home, we know we have to score more goals and keep a clean sheet. On Saturday, we promise a win and three goals,” he said.
Mwanza has called on fans to rally behind the team, saying, “Fans have been great so far. We are on a journey to make history….. And we would love them to be part of this group making history.
“We ask fans to come in good numbers and support us; we promise to do much better.”
