Rainford Kalaba, a TP Mazembe legend and 2015 CAF Champions League winner, has tipped Power Dynamos and FC Muza ahead of their respective continental club competitions.

Kalaba, who announced his retirement from football last month, is one of the continent’s most decorated Zambian players. He won the Africa Cup of Nations, the CAF Champions League, the CAF Confederations Cup, and the CAF Super Cup.

Rainford Kalaba has announced his retirement aged 36.

He believes Dynamos and Muza can both compete well in the CAF Champions League and Confederations Cup, respectively.

“Both teams had impressive seasons in the league,” he said. “And if they continue on that path, they will be able to compete with the best teams in Africa.”

In an exclusive interview with BolaNews, Kalaba stated that MUZA, as debutants, will require proper cohesion if they are to impress.

“If you look at this MUZA team, most of the players have been playing together for a while. So, if they can coordinate very well like we saw last season, they will go far.”

MUZA qualified for the CAF Confederations Cup after finishing second in the FAZ MTN Super League last season. Aba Yellow, who are representing Zambia in the CAF Champions League, won the domestic league.

With Dynamos returning to the continent’s biggest Club competition in 11 years, Kalaba thinks they deserve to play continental football.

“Power Dynamos have every reason to compete at this level because they have been there before, unlike MUZA, who are only coming in as debutants,” he said.

Power Dynamos won the CAF Africa Winners Cup in 1991.

The seven-time Super League champions are still the only Zambian club to win a continental title since 1991.

They won the CAF Champions Cup before it was later renamed the CAF Confederations Cup.

Dynamos will begin their continental campaign this weekend against the African Stars of Namibia.

MUZA, on the other hand, will face Cano Sport of Equatorial Guinea in their debut CAF Confederations Cup.
