Green Buffaloes Women’s FC strikers told to improve by South Africa’s Jerry Tshabalala

Coach Tshabalala believes both Mamelodi Sundowns and Green Buffaloes have a 70% chance to win the 2022 CAF Women's Champions League but they need to improve.

Mamelodi Sundowns women’s football club head coach Jerry Tshabalala has tipped Green Buffaloes women’s football club strikers to improve ahead of the 2022 CAF Women’s Champions League which is set to kick off on October 30th to November 13th 2022.

Tshabalala who helped Sundowns win the inaugural edition of the competition last season believes Buffaloes has a very good defense but needs to improve their attack

“We exchanged numbers with coach (Charles Haluboono) to share notes ahead of the competition,” he said.

“Green Buffaloes are good defensive-wise; when you look at their defense, it’s the same that plays for the Copper queens. They are solid but I think they still need to improve their attacking game. They need to sharpen their attack.”

Tshabalala is happy that his team Sundowns and Buffaloes who will represent Southern Africa at the competition in Morocco were not drawn in the same group and that both have a 70% chance of winning the continental title.

Mamelodi Sundowns Women’s FC crowned Champions of Africa.

“As representatives for our region, I think we both have a 70% chance of winning the title. It’s good that we are not going to meet each other in the group stage which means we can only face each other maybe in the semifinals,” added Tshabalala.

Just like Buffaloes, Tshabalala also believes his team needs to improve in terms of converting chances as they have not scored much in their last fixtures.

“When I look at my team (Mamelodi Sundowns) we need to improve in terms of converting chances. We haven’t scored many goals previously and we need to improve as we go to the Champions League.”

Green Buffaloes crowned Champions of the COSAFA women’s Club Champions League.

Sundowns and Buffaloes will be the two clubs from southern Africa that will participate in the eight clubs competition.

Buffaloes qualified for the competition for the first time ever after beating Sundowns 5-4 on post match penalties in the final of the 2022 COSAFA Women’s Champions League which was used as the qualifier for the CAF competition.
