Bola Yamu Hood, sponsored by BolaBet Zambia, is heating up as community clubs compete for a spot in the grand finale, which will be held at the Woodlands Stadium in Lusaka.
The grassroots football tournament began on Saturday, June 22, 2024, in Lusaka’s Bauleni township, with eight teams competing for a spot as hood representatives.
The tournament, worth approximately K2.5 million, includes community clubs from seven townships in the Lusaka and Copperbelt provinces.
Over 1,000 people packed the Magret Mwanakatwe stadium in Bauleni township for the inaugural matches, which saw BUSA FC walk away with a K15,000 cheque and bragging rights as hood champions.
Musalile were crowned champions in Garden Compound, while Lasa Lasa took home bragging rights in the Mtendere after beating legends in the final, which drew around 2,000 spectators.
The three champions will face the winners of other townships in Lusaka and the Copperbelt for the grand prize at the Woodlands Stadium on August 10, 2024. The finale will be broadcast live on Diamond.
Next weekend, Kanyama teams will also compete to determine who will represent them at Woodlands. The tournament will then move to Kitwe in Wusakile, Mulenga, and Kamitondo compounds from July 13–27, 2024.
BolaBet announced that the compound with the most spectators will have a community borehole drilled near their ground.
