Football administrator and blogger Sydney Chisoko has announced his intentions to rival Andrew Kamanga for the post of Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) president at the association’s elective annual general meeting next year.
Last week, Football House unveiled the 2025 election roadmap following an executive committee meeting. The Elective AGM will be preceded by provincial elections, which will kick off on March 15, 2025.
The main AGM has been set for March 29, 2025.
There are already a number of high-profile names that have declared their intention, with former president Kalusha Bwalya being among those who are seeking to face off with Kamanga for the top post.
Chisoko confirmed to Bolanews in an interview that he is also eyeing the FAZ post, having built his football administration credentials for the last 10 years.
“I will connect Zambia to the rest of the world” – Chisoko
He said should he be handed the mantle to lead Zambian football, he would look to connect Zambia to the rest of the world, stating that the nation has continued to lag behind in this area.
“You see, other FAs, they’ve done so well because they’ve linked their project to the rest of the world. I’ll tell you about Senegal. Senegal is one of the countries that is doing very fine from the grassroots level to the national level.
“Many people, what they don’t know is Senegal, they had to sit down and say, how are we going to develop our game without leaving everyone? Everyone must be on the board. Everyone must be part of the success story.
“So what did they do? They link their project to the rest of the world. So today, when you go to Europe, Mr. Kabamba, you ask about the Senegal project. They’ll tell you, direct from Europe, they’ll tell you what Senegal is doing,” Chisoko said.
Asked if he meets the prerequisite of standing in the FAZ election, Chisoko responded in the affirmative.
“Yes for 10 years I have been affiliated with 3 different clubs with three different positions. Learning and getting experience silently. Currently, I am the founder and owner of Hadara Academy, which plays from OYDC.
“We are a fully registered Football Academy which meets all the requirements by our FA,” he said.
