The Malawi Super League concluded on Saturday with Mighty Wanderers lifting their seventh league title. Wanderers last won a league title in 2017.
Wanderers amassed 69 points—3 points above second-placed side, FCB Nyasa Big Bullets, and five points above defending champions Silver Strikers.
Top scorer:
Babatunde Adepoju and Chikumbutso Salima, both from Bullets, shared the golden boot award with 15 goals each.
Heading into the final match on Saturday at Kamuzu Stadium against Mzuzu City Hammers, both had 13 goals each. Both scored a brace to take their tally to 15.
This is the second time for Adepoju, who is on loan from Venda FC of South Africa, to win the golden boot. In 2022 he won it with 18 goals.

For Salima it is his first time to win the league golden boot. Last year it was Wanderers’ midfielder, Isaac Kaliati, who won the golden boot with 17 goals.
Relegation:
Three teams have been relegated: two from the northern region of Malawi (Songwe United and Mzuzu City Hammers) and another from the southern region (Mighty Tigers).
Songwe have been relegated after registering only one win in 30 games, drawing three times, and recording only 6 points. Hammers only managed to collect 28 points, and Tigers 27.
Best goalkeeper:
Wanderers keeper Dalitso Khungwa won the golden glove with 17 clean sheets in 22 league games.
Khungwa emerged winner over last season’s winner, George Chikoola of Silver Strikers, who kept 14 clean sheets in 29 games. Chikoola managed 18 clean sheets last season.
