The management of Bingu National Stadium has received 164 replacement seats from Silver Strikers and Mighty Wanderers to make up for the damage they caused in 2023.

During the 2023 Airtel Top8 Cup match, Wanderers supporters damaged the seats after Silver strikers were awarded a penalty.

Wanderers players boycotted the match, and their fans damaged the chairs.

The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) had ordered both teams to replace those damaged seats.

On Saturday last week, both clubs jointly presented 164 replacement seats to the Bingu National Stadium management and promised that they will “sin no more”.

Silver Strikers supporters’ chairperson Kingsley Malaya asked fans to respect the decision of the referee and not to take the law into their own hands.

“This is our property; we need to take care of it” said Malaya.

Mighty Wanderers vice supporter’s chairperson Mark Chimwenje said they decided to repair the chairs just to allow football to win and that they should be progress.

“Wanderers is the most disciplined team; I ask them to be exemplary and allow football to win in every decision,” he said.
