Silver Strikers left back Mark Fodya taking his spot kick against Moyale's FC goalie Harawa at Mzuzu Stadium.

Pieter De Jongh, the Silver Strikers’ manager this year, vowed to win the league and two cups. But his team is out from the FDH Bank Cup after five months.

The Dutch coach blamed the poor playing surface for his team’s defeat to Moyale Barracks of the Malawi Defence Force.

“It was a difficult game; it’s impossible to play football on this field; the stadium is rough,” He answered when a reporter asked him about the condition of the Mzuzu Stadium.

Silver Strikers grabbed the lead on 63 minutes thanks to a well-placed free kick by Mark Fodya outside the penalty area, but Gasten Simkonda, a striker for the home team, equalized on the 75th.

Nyasa Big Bullets also qualified to the quarterfinals.

After regular ended with a goal apiece, the game went to penalty shootouts, which the home team won 10-9 to go to the FDH Bank Cup quarterfinals.
