More times than any other Malawian team, FCB Nyasa Big Bullets have won the Airtel Top 8 Cup, setting a new record.
At Bingu National Stadium, they defeated Silver Strikers, a team from Lilongwe. This marks the third time the two have met one another, with the Bullets winning each time.
After normal time ended 1 all, the Bullets defeated them 5-4 in post-match shootouts in the 2021 final.
They faced off in the final in 2024 as well, with the Bullets winning 1-0. And after normal time ended one all, the Bullets defeated Silver 4-3 on penalties to win today.
This indicates that the Bullets have won it four times (2021, 2023, 2024, and 2025), while Silver has won it twice (in 2017). Blue Eagles won it in 2018 and Mighty Wanderers once in 2022.
How The Match Progressed:
Five minutes into the first half, attacker Chikumbutso Salima was taken down, and Bullets, led by former Silver Strikers coach Peter Mponda, were given a penalty. Babatunde Adepoju, a Nigerian attacker, tried to score but was stopped by Silver goalie George Chikooka.

Bullets rallied, but they didn’t have as many chances to score as Silver, whose front line was in ruins even though they were winning balls in the middle.
Four minutes into the second half, Maxwell Phodo headed in a Banda delivery to give them the lead.
In place of Binwell Katinji and Innocent Shema, Silver’s coach Peter Mgangira substituted Chinsinsi Maonga and Innocent Ntonga. At sixty-five minutes, they leveled the score after winning the ball and breaking through the Bullets’ half.
After regulation time, referee Godfrey Nkhakanga called for penalties to break them up, but Bullets took advantage of the situation.
