Malawi legends came from behind to win the friendly match on post-match penalties against Zambia legends after regulation time ended 2-2 at Bingu National Stadium in the Malawi capital, Lilongwe on Sunday.
Zambia scored through Isaac Chansa and Jonas Sakuwaha in the 50th and 70th minutes respectively.
The host levelled in the 84th and 94th minutes through Mapopa Msukwa and Jimmy Zakazaka.
Penalties followed after regulation time, Zambia’s Chibuye had his spot kick saved by Nthala. Fundi Akidu converted the decisive penalty.
The man of the match award went to Makundika Sakala. The win marks a triumphant moment for the Malawi Legends.

In a post-match interview, the Flames legends coach Kinnah Phiri congratulated his boys for the victory.
“It was not an ordinary friendly match; we have shown that even if age is catching up, they still have energy and skills. There is no friendly match when Zambia is playing Malawi ” he said.
Chipolopolo’s coach Chintu Kampamba hailed the status quo of the match, characterized by the fans’ electrifying atmosphere.
