Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) presidential candidate Keith Mweemba has issued a strongly worded statement accusing the FAZ Secretariat of illegally manipulating the agenda of the upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM) to favor incumbent Andrew Kamanga, who is also contesting in the May 9 elections.
In the statement released on Thursday, Mweemba alleges that General Secretary Reuben Kamanga, his deputy John Msimuko, and certain provincial FAZ leaders are colluding to alter the AGM agenda unconstitutionally—particularly by suppressing discussions around critical financial and statutory reports.
“Without any shadow of doubt whatsoever and with the greatest of respect, the General Secretary, Mr. Reuben Kamanga, his Deputy, Mr John Msimuko and other known members of the provincial FAZ leadership are working in collaboration to give undue advantage to Mr Andrew Ndanga Kamanga by attempting to alter or evade the duly constituted agenda of the forthcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM) as stipulated in Article 28 of the FAZ Constitution. We have got incontrovertible evidence to prove this fact,” Mweemba claimed.
“This is not just illegal, it is an outright assault on the Constitution of FAZ,” Mweemba said, warning that the move threatens the integrity of the electoral process and could lead to legal and institutional crises.
Reject Changes to Agenda- Mweemba
He urged FAZ councillors and delegates to reject any agenda changes that undermine accountability, particularly the omission of financial statements.
Mweemba further warned that if these “clandestine schemes” are allowed to proceed, they could warrant criminal investigations, impeachment motions, or disqualifications of those involved.
“The Constitution is clear. No one—not even the FAZ President—has the authority to unilaterally change the AGM agenda once it has been set and circulated,” he said.
Meanwhile, the FAZ secretariat has yet to comment on the accusations levelled against their institution.
The AGM is anticipated to take place in Kabwe on May 9, 2025. This comes after the previous AGM on March 29 was halted due to a court order.
