Mighty Wanderers have clinched their seventh Malawian Super league title with a game to go after thumping Moyale Barracks 6-0 at Kamuzu stadium on Saturday.

The result could not be enough for them to lift the title, but their rivals FCB Nyasa Big Bullets registered goalless draw away to Mighty Tigers at Mpira Stadium.

Wanderers have won the league with 68 points—5 points over second-placed Bullets, who are following with 63 points, and both sides have a game to go.

The last time Mighty Wanderers won the league title was in 2017.

Club president Thomson Mpinganjira is a happy to win the league for the first time as club president.

“Winning, satisfied, worth the money spent so far. The project is complete [of making this club mighty again,” he reacted.

Coach Bob Mpinganjira thanked players for playing according to plan and winning the league for the first time as the head coach.

“I am a happy person that we have achieved this so far; however, I should thank my players for their play to the point that we have won the league,” he said.

For winning the league, Wanderers will receive K100 million.

The champions will play their final match next week against a military side, Kamuzu Barracks, while Bullets will face Mzuzu City Hammers—a side that is fighting for relegation.
