During the February Women’s FIFA Window friendlies between Malawi and Zambia, the Scorchers of Malawi hope to have the Temwa and Tabitha Chawinga sisters along with other pros.
As they get ready for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifications, Zambia has extended an invitation to its neighbor.
Zambia will host the two friendly games on Thursday, February 20, and Sunday, February 23, 2025.
Football Association of Malawi (FAM) Competition Manager Gomezgani Zakazaka has told BolaNews that there are high hopes that professionals will be available during the friendlies.
According to him, Malawi has more international players targeted for the qualifications, and they will accompany the team to Zambia to aid in their match preparation.
Lovemore Fazili, the Scorchers coach, said the two friendlies will provide him with a unique chance to evaluate his entire team.

“These two games are very important because we are looking for our strengths and weaknesses, we have to taste ourselves on where we stand, and the games are coming at the right time,” he said.
“Winning is something that is our priority, but at the same time we have to develop our team, we need to see the coordination, body language of the players and we should build a better future team.
“We are supposed to improve in all areas though we have good players, we have to improve all the departments of the field, but we will look very much on goalkeeping and defense which have been a problem in the previous assignments,” he added.
