Malawi and Richards Bay FC striker Gabadinho Mhango’s form has drawn praise from Malawians, with recent comments coming from his coach in South Africa.
Mhango, who joined the club from fellow Betway Premiership side Marumo Gallants, scored yesterday at New Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane, helping his side secure a point away to Sekhukhune United in the league.
The 33-year-old found the net in the 76th minute to level the match, which ended 1-1. The home team had taken the lead in the 68th minute through winger Ronaldo Maarman.
Mhango, enjoying his fine form, has scored four goals this season. He also netted twice for the Flames of Malawi during the September FIFA international break.
Speaking after the match, Richards Bay FC co-coach Ronnie Gabriel said Mhango is transforming the team, acknowledging his significant impact and influence.
He was quoted: “We think he has had fantastic progress so far; he has been influential.
“We brought him to score goals, and he has been scoring goals…. Leading the youngsters as well in terms of guiding them and what is required at this level.
“As you know, we have a young squad, and that type of influence rubs off on the youngsters. So there’s been positive energy in the group.”
