Former NAPSA Stars head coach Mohamed Fathi is one of almost 200 coaches who have applied for the vacant Zimbabwe national team coaching position.
Fathi, an Egyptian living in Zambia, has joined a long list of prominent coaches hoping to lead the Warriors ahead of the 2018 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.
He holds a CAF Pro Elite Licence under the Egyptian Football Federation, has previously coached in Zambia and Zimbabwe at Highlanders FC.
The Arab tactician guided NAPSA Stars to the 2021 CAF Confederation Cup group stage, where they faced JS Kabylie, Coton Sport, and RS Berkane, after eliminating Gor Mahia 3–2 on aggregate.

He has also coached Power Dynamos, Kabwe Warriors, and Lusaka Dynamos, in addition to stints outside Zambia.
The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) dismissed German coach Michael Nees, last week after a string of disappointing results.
“The process of appointing a coach is at an advanced stage. I think by Monday or Tuesday next week, we should be in a position to make an announcement,” ZIFA president Ngobile Magwizi said during Soccer Africa on SuperSport TV.
Chris Hughton, Harry Redknapp, Sam Allardyce, and Winfried Schäfer are among 200 applicants linked to the job.

Local interest remains strong as well, with Warriors assistant coach Kaitano Tembo reportedly among the candidates, although he has remained tight-lipped on the matter.
