Zambian defender Chitoshi Chinga made a solid debut for Zimbabwean Premier Soccer League (PSL) side CAPS United, helping them secure a hard-fought 1-0 victory over fifth-placed Scotland in a Week 19 fixture played on Sunday.
The win saw Ian Bakala’s side climb to 10th on the table with 23 points as they continue to push for a stronger finish in the second half of the season.
The decisive goal came from Chris Mugalu, another debutant who recently joined Makepekepe from Zambian side Forest Rangers. Mugalu wasted no time making an impact for his new club, delivering the match-winner that secured all three points for the Harare giants in the opening minutes.
Speaking after the match, Bakala expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance and praised the players for executing the game plan.
“I credit most of the players. I think they performed very well according to how we planned, and I actually saw it coming through our training sessions,” Bakala said. “Despite the small mistakes we made, it was a good game overall. The players worked hard, stayed focused, and deserved the win.”
CAPS United’s next match is scheduled for Sunday against Triangle United.
