FA president Andrew Kamanga has urged Zambians to support the Chipolopolo Boys ahead of the 2025 Morocco Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, which begin next month.
Zambia was placed in Group G with reigning champions Ivory Coast, Sierra Leone, and Chad.
In search of their 19th appearance at the AFCON, the Chipolopolo Boys will begin their campaign away against Ivory Coast.
That away fixture will be followed by a home match against Sierra Leone at the Levy Mwanawansa Stadium in Ndola.
Fans criticized Chipolopolo for their underwhelming performance at the 2023 AFCON, where they failed to advance beyond the group stage. The Avram Grant-coached side lost 1-0 to Morocco and drew 1-1 with DR Congo and Tanzania to exit the tournament.
However, Kamanga has urged them to rally behind the team.
“Preparations for our back-to-back Morocco 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Ivory Coast in Bouake and Sierra Leone in Ndola are in motion,” he said in his weekly Monday column. “As we have always done, we will make sure that Chipolopolo are afforded quality preparations to give us a head start in the September round of qualifiers.
“We call upon the public to support our lads as they seek to sustain their presence at Africa’s top-tier competition.”
