The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) will receive US$700,000 (more than K18 million) from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for the Chipolopolo’s third-place finish in Group F of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.

Avram Grant’s side was knocked out of the competition in the group stage after drawing one-all against DR Congo and Tanzania. The 2012 AFCON champions then lost 1-0 to Morocco on Matchday 3.

The two points accumulated by Zambia, who occupied third place in Group F, were not enough for them to advance to the Round of 16, with Ivory Coast progressing to the next round as the fourth-best third-placed table.

The Black Stars of Ghana and Zambia are the only sides that will receive US$700,000 for finishing in third place in their respective groups but falling short of points to advance to the Round of 16.

The six teams, including Tanzania, Algeria, and Mozambique, that finished fourth across all the groups will each receive US$500,000 from the football governing body.

For teams such as Egypt, Namibia, Senegal, Burkina Faso, Morocco, Cameroon, Mauritania, and Equatorial Guinea, that were booted out in the Round of 16, their associations will each be given US$800,000.
