The Zambian national team will play at the Iconi-Malouzini Sports Stadium in the Comoros Islands tonight as the conclusion of their 2023 AFCON qualifying campaign.

With 12 points after five games, the Chipolopolo are in first place in Group H and have already secured a position in the tournament together with the AFCON hosts, Ivory Coast.

This gives Avram Grant the chance to give important playing time to a number of Chipolopolo stars who haven’t yet secured certain spots in the starting lineup.

Bolanews briefly analyze the five Zambian players who ought to be considered for the Comoros match.

Clatous Chama
The Tanzanian-based playmaker has not started a game for the Chipolopolo in almost two years. In October 2021, he last played in a 1-1 tie with Equatorial Guinea. Chama has scored over 10 goals at club level, including a CAF Champions League hat-trick.

Clatous

Edward Chilufya
Fresh from completing a move to BK Häcken in Sweden, Chilufya will hope his recent call-up to the team will be more fruitful in the absence of Fashion Sakala serving a suspension.

COSAFA rising stars.

Golden Mafwenta
Golden, a midfielder based in the Czech Republic, is another player who deserves to see action against the Comoros Islands. Mafwenta, 22 could be the long-term replacement for Nathan Sinkala in the middle of the park.

Golden

Francis Mwansa

The Green Buffaloes shot blocker was amazing to watch during the 2023 Cosafa. In victories over Bafana Bafana (2-1) and Lesotho (1-0) in the final match, Francis produced outstanding saves.

Moyela Libamba
Libamba finished third in the 2022–23 Zambian Super League Golden Boot standings with 12 goals for Forest Rangers.
