Sierra Leone head coach Amidu Karim has named Crystal Palace Academy midfielder Hindolo Mustapha to his 25-man squad for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Chad and Zambia.

The Leone Stars will host Chad in Liberia on September 6th and play Zambia away in Ndola on September 10th.

Mustapha, 18, signed his first professional contract in January. He is a strong midfielder with good ball control and the ability to score from long range.

The attacking midfielder, who was born in the United Kingdom, has worked his way up the academy ranks since joining at the age of nine.

Mustapha has made six appearances for Darren Powell’s Under-21s this season, scoring one goal.

In 2023-24, Mustapha contributed four goals and seven assists in 16 appearances for the Under-18s team.

Other notable inclusions include Cesena FC striker Augustus Kargbo, Argyle Plymouth forward Mustapha Bundu, and Charlton Athletic youngster Daniel Kanu.

Meanwhile, Kargbo, 25, has one goal and one assist in three matches for Italian Serie B side Cesena this season.

While he plays as a striker for his club, Kargbo, who has two goals in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, primarily serves as a winger for the national team.

He recently revealed why he plays the winger role for the national team.

“I like to switch between the forward positions; explosiveness is the defining feature of my football. I like to keep my opponents guessing,” he recently told FIFA.com.
