Hugo Broos and his Bafana Bafana side blew a 2-0 lead at home to draw 2-2 with Liberia in Group K of the 2023 AFCON qualifiers.
They took an early lead in the 11th minute when Burnley FC forward Lyle Foster scored from the penalty spot after Percy Tau was fouled in the box.
Foster extended South Africa’s lead in the 22nd minute to go on the break with a comfortable 2-0 lead.
Liberia came out firing in the second half, repeatedly knocking on the Bafana Bafana door.
Liberia’s two tactical changes proved decisive in the Lone Stars’ squad, as substitute Tonia Tisdel equalized in the 68th minute.
Another substitute Mohammed Sangare scored the equalizer late in added time to end the match in a tie.

Hugo Broos gutted
The result angered Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos, who stormed the tunnels shortly after the final whistle.
Broos later refused to speak with the media. He sent his assistant, who was rejected by the journalists, and demanded that he address them himself.
The media had to wait for him for about 30 minutes. But Broos did not say much as he admitted to being angry.

He added that he did not want to answer any media questions and walked away.
“There’s so much disappointment, too much anger in my body, that if I say what I want, it won’t be nice,” Broos stated.
“I have always been ready in the past to answer your questions even difficult questions. But I hope that you understand that today it’s very difficult for me to do that.
“Sorry for that but I hope when you saw the game and what happened on the pitch today you understand my reaction. I thank you very much,” concluded the former Africa Cup of Nations winner.
